Stephan Schüle (Director of Product Management) explains how Smart, Seamless and Touchless automation is reimagining the factory of the future and tackling the labour shortage.

At interpack 2026, Syntegon will launch two brand-new machine platforms – HFX for horizontal flow wrapping and TRX for top-loading cartoning – along with its Smart, Seamless and Touchless automation features.

In conversation with Packaging Journal, Stephan Schüle, Director of Product Management at Syntegon, explains how these innovations address the industry’s biggest challenges: rising cost pressure, growing flexibility demands, stricter regulations and the ongoing shortage of qualified labour. He outlines Syntegon’s vision of a factory that is more automated, more intelligent, and allows people to focus on value-added tasks instead of repetitive work.

Schüle also makes the case for Syntegon as a strategic lifecycle partner — supporting customers from modernisations and training to digital data services that keep productivity high across the entire machine lifetime. Highlights from the new launches include a redesigned HMI, the Guide-by-Light operator concept, and a digital data approach that makes machine information available both on the line and remotely in the office.
