Vytal facilitates the switch to reusable systems

From 1 January 2023, single-use packaging in the catering industry will be a thing of the past. Vytal has launched a poster campaign in favour of its reusable systems so that restaurateurs can prepare for the changes early on and avoid packaging waste.

According to a study by the Federal Environment Agency, more than 800,000 single-use packs are consumed every hour. This is set to come to an end from 1 January 2023, as the amendment to the Packaging Act (Article 33) will make reusable packaging mandatory in the catering industry. Vytal has launched a poster campaign for its reusable systems so that caterers can prepare for the changes at an early stage and avoid packaging waste.

Together with the Berlin creative agencies LIT Create and Home Berlin has Vytal developed a new branding for the reusable platform and a campaign. Consumers and restaurateurs are invited with slogans such as „Use me baby one more time“, „Welcome to Mehrweg“, „Holste ab - gibste zurück - biste happy“ to use the deposit-free alternative to disposable packaging to switch to a sustainable and modern lifestyle. Vytal users can collect or have their reusable food delivered free of charge from any of the more than 2,000 partners and then conveniently return it to any partner, in supermarket return boxes or to quick commerce services such as Gorillas.

Sustainable and digital

„Vytal is much more than just reusable packaging, Vytal stands for a better and more ecological way to pick up, deliver and enjoy food. Together with the Vytal team and Heimat Berlin, we have developed a brand that expresses exactly that: self-confident, bold, expressive and with a voice full of character. In this way, the brand becomes part of a modern, sustainable lifestyle - without appearing aloof or clichéd. Because that's exactly what „Generation Vy.“ is.“

In addition to the opportunity for restaurateurs and customers, Reusable containers for all to-go food and drinks (sushi, burgers, pizza, coffee cups, subdivided menu trays and bowls) digitally and deposit-free, Vytal offers numerous additional technical functions and integrations that combine convenience and sustainability.

„We help restaurateurs to fulfil the reusability obligation and at the same time reduce their packaging costs by an average of 30-50 per cent. They can also use the Vytal app to win new customers and increase customer loyalty, as many users now select their restaurants via the Vytal app and return the containers after less than four days on average. Thanks to the Integration into delivery services and existing digital tools such as cash register systems or canteen apps makes processing quick and easy. The integrated live measurement and display of packaging savings as well as other gamification elements are extremely motivating and show that sustainability can be fun.“

Reusable should become the standard

Vytal, for example, is now connected to all delivery services such as Lieferando, Wolt, Gorillas, UberEats, mjam (in Austria) as the operating system for reusables and offers Interfaces to many software solutions in the catering industry such as Simply Delivery, Ventopay, Kamasys, qnips or dishtracker, thus combining convenience and sustainability. Users can use the Vytal app to pre-order their food for collection from restaurants or have it delivered from the comfort of their sofa.

Similar to the library, the containers labelled with individual QR codes are linked to the customer account by being scanned by the restaurateurs so that the delivery process does not have to be changed and the reusable packaging does not represent any additional work for the drivers. The Cologne-based start-up is already working on further collaborations and partnerships to make it possible to even easier for users. „This is the only way for reusable packaging to really become the standard„, says Witthöft.
