Ardagh Glass Packaging has expanded its product portfolio to include new, lightweight wine bottles, which are produced at the Germersheim site. With a reduced weight, the bottles are designed to minimise CO2-footprint and at the same time offer customers more choice and flexibility.
Ardagh Glass Packaging, a leading supplier of glass packaging, has launched a new range of lightweight wine bottles. These bottles weigh just 360 grams, compared to the previous 410 grams, and thus reduce the CO2-emissions per bottle by around 12 per cent. Up to 80 per cent recycled glass is used in the production of the bottles. The new range includes 750 ml Bordeaux and Schlegel bottles in various colours, including white, antique green and royal blue. Both bottle types are available with screw caps, although the Bordeaux bottle is also available with a cork cap.
Stuart Santon, Chief Commercial Officer of Ardagh Glass Packaging - Europe, emphasised that the new range not only reduces CO2-footprint, but also offers customers more versatility in their choice of products. The expansion at the Germersheim site will complement the standard European range, which already includes a 345 g wine bottle from Great Britain includes.
