Südpack Medica is investing despite the challenging market situation in Germany: the Erolzheim site is being massively expanded to meet the growing demand for sustainable pharmaceutical packaging. New capacities and numerous jobs will be created by 2027.
At a time when many industrial companies are cutting jobs or relocating abroad, Südpack Medica is sending a clear signal in favour of Germany as a business location. The manufacturer of sterile packaging solutions is significantly expanding its production capacities in Erolzheim, Baden-Württemberg. The reason for the investment is the growing demand for the sustainable PharmaGuard blister solution, with which the company aims to set new standards in pharmaceutical packaging.
Expansion planned in several stages
The first phase of the expansion is already planned: A new extrusion plant is to be built at the existing logistics site by 2026. An extension is planned to house it, and the ground-breaking ceremony will take place immediately after the planning application has been approved. Commissioning is planned for 2027 and will initially create around 50 new jobs. At the same time, Südpack Medica is preparing further investment phases to create additional capacity and employment opportunities.
With the decision in favour of the expansion, the company is making a clear commitment to the region and is receiving broad local support. Erolzheim's mayor Jochen Ackermann welcomes the project: „We are delighted that companies like Südpack are investing in future-oriented topics such as pharmaceuticals and sustainability and creating jobs here in Erolzheim.“
