TekniPlex Healthcare has opened a new plant for barrier protection systems in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. The facility serves as an innovation centre and will enable future capacity expansions.
TekniPlex Healthcare's new production facility in Madison, Wisconsin, is the new flagship of the Barrier Protection Systems division. With state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and materials expertise, the company aims to expand its position in the North American and international market for sterile protective packaging.
The new plant will strengthen supply security for customers in the medical technology and pharmaceutical sectors - including hospitals, outpatient surgery centres and laboratories - with reliable packaging solutions for medical devices. The plant will also contribute to the stabilisation of global supply chains, according to the statement.
New production capacities and sustainable orientation
The ISO 13485:2016-certified facility offers state-of-the-art equipment for the production of coated and printed materials for sterile applications. This includes a high-performance air knife coater for coated Tyvek and reinforced papers as well as an eight-colour flexographic printing machine with minimal waste.
The sustainable orientation of the new facility plays a central role: 95 per cent of the waste is recyclable, which TekniPlex Healthcare says fulfils the increasing requirements for environmentally friendly manufacturing processes in the healthcare sector.
Future plans at the site
The new plant is already the second in Madison and offers room for future expansion. According to the company, plans include a second flexographic printing press, a rewinder with delivery and a reversible rest roll rewinder.
