The Dutch Looije Group is further expanding its packaging and logistics network with the commissioning of a new site in Ridderkerk. The first expansion phase of the facility has been in operation since the beginning of February and is strengthening capacities for the fruit and vegetable sector.
On 2 February, the Looije Group opened a new site in Ridderkerk in the Netherlands. With the first construction phase now underway, around 17,000 square metres of a state-of-the-art packaging and logistics facility are now available. The company is thus taking a further step towards strengthening its infrastructure and expanding its services for customers in the fruit and vegetable sector.
The new site will be gradually expanded further. In the coming years, additional space will be put into operation in order to meet the growing demand for packaging services. According to the company, this phased approach will allow capacity to be expanded without compromising on quality or delivery reliability.
Focus on packaging for fruit and vegetables
With the expansion of the site, the Looije Group says it is strengthening its position as a packaging partner for the fruit and vegetable sector. The range of services includes sorting, packaging, repackaging and labelling of fresh produce. The solutions offered are aimed at wholesalers, producer organisations and exporters and are tailored to their specific requirements.
The company has been focussing on modern technologies and innovative packaging processes for around 25 years. The aim is to combine increased efficiency with ensuring freshness and product quality. The new facility in Ridderkerk is equipped with state-of-the-art sorting and packaging systems as well as track & trace solutions, which are designed to enable transparency along the entire logistics chain.
With several strategically placed locations, including Ridderkerk, Rotterdam, Waddinxveen and Strijen, the Looije Group says it wants to optimise supply chains and further improve the traceability of fruit and vegetables.
