The European labelling and packaging specialist Stratus Packaging is continuing its growth course and integrating the Alsatian printing and labelling manufacturer Freppel Imprimeur. The takeover strengthens the Group's industrial presence in France and the Franco-German border region and brings its annual turnover to over 100 million euros for the first time.
Since its foundation, Stratus Packaging has pursued a growth strategy that combines organic development with targeted acquisitions, according to the company. The integration of Freppel Imprimeur, a family business based in Colmar since 1968, is part of this approach and, according to the company, is intended to further expand regional proximity to customers, geographical coverage and industrial synergies.
Strengthening market presence and expertise
The Colmar site will open up additional development opportunities for Stratus Packaging in Alsace, eastern France and Germany. At the same time, the group is expanding its technical and design portfolio. Among other things, Freppel Imprimeur brings expertise in the production of self-adhesive, wet glue and wrap-around labels as well as in commercial print production. This is complemented by finishing techniques such as hot foil stamping, embossing and varnishing as well as graphic services with an integrated prepress area and creative studio.
Supplementary market segments
In terms of content, the integration complements Stratus Packaging's activities in the wine, spirits and luxury goods segments in particular. In future, conventional and digital printing technologies will be combined to a greater extent in order to meet the growing demands for high-quality labelling and packaging solutions.
Further expansion of a European network
With now nine production sites in France and Switzerland and around 520 employees, Stratus Packaging is one of the larger suppliers in the European market for high-quality labels and packaging. According to its own figures, the company processes around 80 million square metres of material every year and serves the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and chemical industries, among others.
