The Foundation Initiative for Reusable Packaging (SIM) and the German Environmental Aid (DUH) are inviting you to the Reuse & Logistics Leadership Days 2026 in Berlin on 11 and 12 June 2026. The specialist event will focus on the impact of the European Packaging Regulation PPWR on supply chains, reusable packaging systems, and packaging logistics.
The European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is increasing the pressure on companies to adapt their packaging and logistics processes. According to the organisers, the Reuse & Logistics Leadership Days 2026 are intended to provide a platform for discussing new business models around reusable and pooling systems, digital tracking solutions, and standardised processes.
Keynotes, panels, specialist forums and masterclasses are planned with more than 100 speakers from politics, industry, trade and science. Expected attendees include Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider, Emmanuelle Maire from the EU Commission, representatives from the Bundestag, the Central Agency for Packaging Register, as well as companies and research institutions from the reusable and logistics sectors.
According to the Foundation Initiative Mehrweg, around 40 exhibitors and start-ups are also set to present solutions along the supply chain. The focus will be on packaging, pooling systems, labelling technologies, and software solutions for the circular economy.
PPWR changes packaging logistics requirements
The PPWR is considered a key driver for the expansion of reusable and refillable systems in Europe. This creates new requirements for packaging manufacturers, logistics service providers, and retail companies in terms of standardisation, take-back systems, and digital tracking of packaging.
Above all, transport packaging and reusable packaging solutions are gaining importance due to regulation. In the future, companies will have to provide stronger evidence of how packaging can be managed in a circular economy and reused multiple times.
According to the organisers, the event in Berlin is aimed at specialists and managers from packaging, supply chain management, logistics, and CSR. The programme also includes the presentation of the Reusable Innovation Award 2026 and the 30th anniversary of the Reusable Initiative Foundation.
