At the general meeting of the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, a new board was elected as scheduled. This board comprises the board members of the six specialist departments, has 20 members, and is elected for a three-year term. Markus Rustler, CEO of Theegarten-Pactec, will be the new chairman.

The newly elected board comprises 20 members from the association's various specialist departments. The board elected Markus Rustler, managing director of Theegarten-Pactec, as the new chairman and confirmed Klaus Schröter (Schröter Technologie) as deputy chairman. The election of Markus Rustler marks a generational change, as he succeeds the long-serving chairman Christian Traumann (Multivac Sepp Hagenmüller), who is retiring at the end of the year and has shaped the trade association for many years.

Christian Traumann honoured

Richard Clemens, the outgoing Managing Director of the VDMA Mechanical Engineering Industry Association, thanked Christian Traumann for his long-standing commitment. „Christian Traumann was a formative personality for the association,“ Clemens said, appreciating the impetus Traumann had provided during his term.

The VDMA represents over 3,500 companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector, making it one of the largest industrial associations in Europe. With a turnover of around 900 billion euros, the sector is a crucial economic factor in the EU. The election of Markus Rustler could provide new impetus for the packaging machinery industry and strengthen the focus on sustainable and innovative solutions.
