Somic Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG from Amerang is one of the leading manufacturers of carton end-of-line packaging machines. At this year's FachPack, the company will be presenting the latest generation of lid tray packers.
The Somic 424 DT sounds like a high-speed sports car for a reason. With a cartoning output of 30 two-part packages per minute, the machine is one of the record holders in the industry. This applies not only to the speed, but also to the dimensions: With a footprint of just 3.3 x 2.1 metres, the machine is Extremely space-saving.
The combination of tray and internal plug-in lid is Suitable for all pre-packaged foods, that require protective and visually attractive outer packaging. The cardboard format range is 300 millimetres long and 250 millimetres wide.
„We wanted to offer the greatest possible performance in the smallest possible space,“ explains Patrick Bonetsmüller, Managing Director of the mechanical engineering company. „It was also important to us that the machine could be easily integrated into existing lines.“
To demonstrate this line expertise, the company is building a line into which the 424 DT model is integrated. The lid tray packer is equipped with the Somic predictive maintenance system equipped. It enables the actual need for maintenance to be recognised in advance. The status of the drives can be monitored and analysed from the dashboard via the „Somic Wiki“ - on all mobile devices such as notebooks, tablets or smartphones. This allows the machine Proactive and targeted maintenance, to ensure a high level of efficiency.
Display of operating data
A world first is the Augmented reality solution from Somic. It is an app that displays all important machine information on mobile devices. Intuitive and easy to understand, information on the components is displayed by taking a virtual look inside the machine. The appropriate operating steps are displayed or supplemented by to-do videos. For example, a format change can be carried out using the visual guide very simple.
Two touchscreen control panels per machine
In addition to its high speed, the new generation of machines is characterised by numerous technical innovations. For example, the 424 DT is the first end-of-line packaging machine to feature Two HMI control panels is available. This means it can be operated from two different positions, which saves staff having to walk long distances. Unintentional overlaps during input are not possible thanks to intelligent software.
