Thomas Becker is the new majority owner of „IMA Dairy & Food“. In the fourth quarter of last year, the Italian company IMA S.p.A. sold its 60 per cent stake to Becker. The company announced this on 13 May 2019.
To IMA Dairy & Food include the brands Gasti, Hamba, Hassia and Erca. The new majority owner announced that these brands will operate independently again in future. The brands will also expand their respective portfolios. For example, Hassia Packaging machines GmbH is now expanding its portfolio with Filling and capping machines The range is complemented by Hamba's range of machines for prefabricated cups and bottles in the high-performance range as well as stick pack and sachet machines. Erca S.A.S., based near Paris, has added rotary-type machines for prefabricated cups and trays as well as the newly developed „Flex Cup“ filling and sealing machine to its machine programme. Gasti Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH will be focussing its machines on the Foodservice-market. There are also plans to expand the sales and service network.
Aseptic Competence Centre opened in Ranstadt
On the occasion of the company handover, IMA Dairy & Food also announced that a „Aseptic Competence Centre“ has been established. It pools the experience and expertise of all the companies in the group in the fields of aseptics, mechanical engineering and laboratory practice.
The tasks of the new organisation are to include, Complete solutions from the planning and design of a packaging system through to acceptance from a single source. The aseptics team is also responsible for validation, troubleshooting, inspection and optimisation of existing systems.
Microbiological tests and quality control
The newly equipped Laboratory according to IMA Dairy & Food with Microorganisms up to risk group II and has extensive equipment for carrying out various microbiological methods. Further analyses of product properties can be carried out in the physical laboratory.
The core competence consists of the routine Quality control of all hygienic machines prior to delivery and on-site customer support. This also includes, for example, determining the Kill rate from Sterilisation processes through the microbiological load test. This test is an important part of the verification of commercial sterility.
