Product manufacturing in small batch sizes, different national languages and customised equipment requirements is an increasing problem for manufacturers in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sector. Intrex-Deutschland GmbH, Hamburg, is presenting the LSC-100, a new technical solution for product customisation, at this year's FachPack:
Products are not labelled after blistering, but are only labelled with Data matrix codes printed on a label containing all product and production-related data. They are then temporarily stored in so-called tubes (storage boxes).
When an order is placed, the required products are identified using the data matrix codes on the boxes, these tubes are removed from the warehouse and inserted into the magazines of the LSC-100. After vvarious reading and checking processes the machine starts processing the order.
The blister packs are separated one after the other from the magazines by feed arms and placed on a carrier belt. They then pass through the intrex® 200+ labelling system. There, prefabricated basic labels are Thermal transfer printing process (Domino V320i) with order-specific, i.e. variable, data and dispensed onto the blisters.
To check the quality of the prints and the labels applied, a High-performance camera from COGNEX used. It checks the printed labels for completeness and legibility. Products labelled as GOOD remain on the conveyor belt for further processing, bad products are ejected
