As announced earlier this year, the Reckitt Benckiser Group is now launching a recyclable, flexible mono-material plastic packaging portfolio for its premium line of Finish Quantum Ultimate dishwasher tablets, developed by Mondi.
The product line had previously used a multi-layer stand-up pouch made of PET/PE, which was not recyclable. Due to Reckitt Benckiser's (RB) commitment that 100 per cent of the plastic packaging used must be reusable or recyclable by 2025, this had to change. RB is therefore pursuing a „4R“ approach - Reduce, Reuse, Replace, Recycle (reduce, reuse, replace, recycle).
„In line with the customer-centred approach EcoSolutions from Mondi we worked closely with RB to make this product fully recyclable without compromising on the high-quality look, feel and performance. We asked questions about the entire process and customised several aspects to meet the customer's individual requirements.
As this is a premium product line for Finish, it was crucial that the resulting Stand-up pouch stable enough was smooth in appearance and at the same time had an exact colour match and a high-quality appearance offered. No compromises were allowed in the Barrier properties of the packaging and it also had to be a recyclable zip for easy opening and closing of the bag.“

RB plans the roll-out of the new finish packaging in Italy from May, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom and a global launch afterwards.
