Swiss aseptic packaging systems and solutions provider SIG and other companies with science-based climate goals have issued a joint statement calling on governments around the world to align all economic aid and COVID-19 support measures with the latest climate science.

„Recover better“
The „Recover Better“ declaration, which was signed by 155 global companies, is the largest ever Climate initiative supported by the United Nations and driven by CEOs. It calls for policies that strengthen resilience to future crises by supporting efforts to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels in order to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions. well before 2050 can be achieved.
The „Recover Better“ declaration was issued by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) together with the UN Global Compact and the We Mean Business coalition initiated.

SIG's climate targets - Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 60 per cent and greenhouse gas emissions in the value chain by 25 per cent per litre of packaged food by 2030 - have been confirmed by SBTi as being in line with the latest science in the endeavour to keep global warming below 1.5°C. These targets are part of the Way Beyond Good, SIG's roadmap to do more for society and the environment than we claim.
