The French company Lactips, a manufacturer of water-soluble, bio-based thermoplastic materials, has two new investors. The SPI Fund of Bpifrance and Diamond Edge Ventures are providing the company with 13 million euros for future growth.

The investors are the SPI Fund (Société de Projet Industriel) of Bpifrance, which is managed on behalf of the French government as part of the Investments for the Future (PIA) programme, and Diamond Edge Ventures (DEV), the innovation arm of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation (MCHC).

Cleaning tabs dissolve completely

The films produced with the materials from Lactips have a excellent decomposition behaviour. This makes them particularly suitable as Packaging material for the detergent and cleaning agent industry. Lactips has already launched a plastic-free and water-soluble solution for dishwashing tabs and dishwashing powder in individual cans.

The big advantage: the water-soluble packaging film leaves no sticky residue after the dishwashing cycle and does not stick to the detergent compartment. It is also 100 per cent bio-based and plastic-free.
