To ensure that these reach the customer in one piece during shipping, a clever packaging solution from the STI Group not only protects the glasses, but also replaces previous individual solutions as a sustainable universal solution - using corrugated cardboard alone and completely without plastic.
Customers can use the exclusive glasses from Libbey online and have them delivered to your home anywhere in the world. In addition to protecting the fragile products, the glass manufacturer had another requirement for the packaging: the solution had to be easy to use for the customer. As many different glass variants as possible of the Libbey range and thus replace the many different types of packaging used to date.
Universal packaging with flexible insert
The solution realised by the STI Group's development experts consists of 3 outer packaging and 4 different inserts and can be used for a total of 55 different glasses. The intelligent inserts make the Flexible shipping and offer convenient protection for the fragile contents: the jars are securely fixed in the packaging with the help of special holders and punched holes, so that they survive the often bumpy transport route of the parcel services intact.
Shipping without bubble wrap
The monomaterial solution is Made entirely from corrugated cardboard manufactured. Thanks to the reduced number of individual solutions, the packaging saves time and costs in production. The insert protects the glass inside so well that No further wrapping of the jars with bubble wrap necessary is. This means that the new packaging solution saves 0.74 m² of film per shipping carton alone; for a quantity of 5,000 units, the plastic savings potential is equivalent to half a football pitch's worth of bubble wrap.
Easy handling for manufacturers and consumers
If the ordered glass is not to the customer's liking, they can of course return the goods. The packaging and insert are designed in such a way that they can be easily reused for the safe return of the jars.
