The Label Industry Global Awards 2020 honoured innovative work in the label and packaging printing industry. This year, the prize went to solutions from GMG Color, Lenze SE, Paper Machine Converting Company and Avery Dennison Brazil.
The awards were presented for the 17th time this year. Due to corona, the Announcement of this year's winners purely digital.

Winner Label Industry Global Awards 2020
The Award for Innovation for companies with up to 300 employees went to GMG Color. The prize was awarded to GMG ColorCard digital proofing system. According to the jury, it enables print shops to make considerable time and cost savings. This is because the proofs are colour-accurate the first time, with very tight delta tolerances. Substrate changes can be quickly recalculated and reprinted.
For companies with more than 300 employees, the Award for Innovation to Lenze SE and the Paper Machine Converting Company. Lenze SE was honoured for the use of data, which is a Intelligent condition monitoring (Smart Condition Monitoring). The solution takes into account data that is already available in a servo drive of a printing press instead of adding additional sensors. According to the jury, this innovation has the potential to change the way machines are built and maintained.
Paper Machine Converting Company received an award for its Meridian Elite laser ablation technology for Anilox roller cleaning. The technology developed in-house eliminates the possibility of hotspots and improves performance and reliability. Customers can also receive complete documentation of the cleaning process for the entire life cycle of their anilox roller.

Avery Dennison Brazil won the Environmental & Sustainability Award The company received the award for the implementation of a circular programme. It aims to encourage converters, brand owners, recyclers and other businesses to channel waste previously sent to landfill into the production of cellulose paper and paper towels. The judges categorised this as a blueprint for the future development of the industry.
Personal awards
The Rising Star Award went to Elizabeth Yerecic from Yerecic Label.

She leads Yerecic's cross-functional product development team and successfully launched Yerecic Label's SustainLabel! line. Award sponsors are the Label Academy and Avery Dennison.

The R. Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award went to Federico D'Annunzio from the Bobst Group. D'Annunzio has spent his entire career in the industry. He is one of the pioneers in the digitalisation of the conventional label printing process.
