Avery Dennison has introduced rDT, the first commercially available thermal paper labels containing recycled post-consumer waste.

Direct thermal paper is a popular material due to its ease of use, high print speed, high image resolution and wide range of compatible printers. The new rDT thermal paper from Avery Dennison is the first recycled, uncoated direct thermal paper label material, that is available on the market.

„We have seen a sharp increase in demand for sustainable direct thermal solutions, particularly in the logistics and e-commerce sectors. The fact that there was no recycled option available for such a widely used material shows a huge gap in the market and we are delighted to introduce rDT to meet the clear demand for sustainable labels and drive the labelling industry towards more regenerative practices.“ Vincenzo Palumbo, Product Manager Direct Thermal Paper at Avery Dennison

rDT is a BPA-free, FSC-certified, uncoated direct thermal paper, which contains post-consumer recycled waste. The performance of the material is equivalent to standard DT paper, including appearance, converting, printability and barcode readability.

Thermal paper rDT complements rRange portfolio

"Avery Dennison is continuously researching and developing ways to increase the sustainability of our products, and rDT is the latest innovation in our rRange portfolio of recycled papers,“ says Vincenzo. „The demand for sustainable materials will grow, so we plan to further expand the rRange portfolio and work to maximise the amount of recycled content in our available materials.“
