SkyCell's new 1500F refrigerated container with a temperature range of -15°C to -25°C offers a specialised solution for a growing niche market.
SkyCell, one of the leading manufacturers of data-controlled temperature-controlled transport containers for the pharmaceutical industry, is now launching the new 1500F container. The container covers the temperature range from minus 15° Celsius to minus 25° Celsius and therefore offers a specialised solution for this growing niche market.
With the 1500F, the company now offers a fourth temperature range, completing its range of containers from deep-frozen to controlled room temperature. A total of All temperature ranges for the transport of sensitive pharmaceutical products.
SkyCell solution for air and road transport
The new solution holds for a constant temperature for more than 120 hours from minus 15° Celsius to minus 25° Celsius without recharging. This means that between two and three million vaccine doses, for example, can be transported in a single aircraft without the use of dry ice. 1500F is also suitable for road transport.
The container, which was built using SkyCell's platform approach, is characterised by its high performance at a low weight of just 470 kilograms. The tested failure rate is less than 0.1 per cent, which is significantly lower than that of the competition, as recently demonstrated by a Analysis of the University of St. Gallen has confirmed.
The reasons for this are both data-supported risk analysis and route optimisation as well as the Product design. The material absorbs shocks and dampens the vibrations that occur during flight and lorry transport. In addition to temperature fluctuations outside the optimum range, vibrations are one of the main causes of product failure during transport.
The efficient design also helps to reduce CO2 emissions by half, as the Multilayer material of the container is recyclable is.
„We worked with Ansys“ advanced AI software to calculate the most efficient design while maintaining our focus on safety. With this new offering, we now have containers that are designed for any temperature range, ensuring that current and developing vaccines and other life-saving medicines can safely reach their destinations around the world." “Our new 1500F container enables pharmaceutical companies to operate in a specific market segment while optimising supply chains using risk prediction and control data,“ says Richard Ettl, CEO and co-founder of SkyCell. „For 2020, we have already been able to Growth of 60 per cent compared to the previous year.“
The company is expected to 70 to 100 units of the 1500F container per month can be produced. With this quantity, enough vaccines could be delivered to immunise the whole of Switzerland in one month, for example. The container is also easy to handle as no additional equipment is required - only a pallet lifter is needed to load the container onto a lorry.
