For Packaging Day 2026, the German Packaging Institute (dvi), together with twelve trade associations and eleven universities, is launching a youth campaign for the packaging industry. Under the motto „Wir packen's an! Du auch?“ (We're tackling it! You too?), students, apprentices, and alumni will share their experiences in packaging-related studies and vocational training professions in social media videos.

The campaign accompanies the countdown to „Packaging Day“ on 11 June 2026. According to the dvi, a total of 25 videos are to be published, in which young people describe their motivation for working in the packaging industry. The topics covered include packaging design, sustainability, mechanical engineering, material development, and economic issues. Those involved describe packaging as a versatile field of work with both technical and societal relevance.

Packaging positioned as an industry of the future

At the heart of the initiative is the role of packaging in security of supply, resource conservation and functioning supply chains. Natalie Brandenburg, Managing Director of the German Packaging Institute, explains: „Packaging is part of our everyday lives – and that's precisely why it's at the centre of societal discussions about climate, sustainability and security of supply.“ She also emphasises that packaging protects products, makes them transportable and reduces losses.
