Special packaging prize: Ideas of the future wanted

For the third time, the German Sustainability Award Foundation is honouring more sustainable product packaging ideas with the Special Packaging Award.

The Special Packaging Award is entering its third round: the German Sustainability Award Foundation is once again honouring more sustainable product packaging ideas in cooperation with the Rewe Group.

Participation is now possible via a Online questionnaire possible. The award is presented as part of the German Sustainability Day on 3 December 2021 in Düsseldorf.

„The rise in online retail during the coronavirus crisis and the closure of shops and restaurants are causing more and more packaging waste in private households. Smart, resource-saving packaging solutions are now in demand. The Packaging Award showcases the best ideas for avoiding waste.“ Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, Initiator of the German Sustainability Award

From 22 March to 7 May 2021, participants can present their solution for more sustainable packaging using an online questionnaire: We are looking for the most promising solutions that Avoid or reduce waste, The new products must be affordable for the mass market and meet the requirements of transport safety, hygiene, information and convenience.

Display

German product and packaging manufacturers, research institutions, start-ups and packaging designers can take part. An independent jury of experts with members from business, research, civil society and politics selects the finalists and the winner in September.

Special packaging award 2020 for Frosta

Last year, the food manufacturer Frosta was honoured for its Frozen food packaging made of paper with the special packaging prize of the German Sustainability Award excellent. Unlike other cardboard packaging in the freezer, the bag has no plastic coating or film and can be disposed of with the paper waste.

[infotext icon]The German Sustainability Award is the national award for excellence in sustainability in business, municipalities and research. With eight competitions (including the Next Economy Award for „green founders“), over 1,000 applicants and 2,000 guests at the events, the award is the largest of its kind in Europe. The award is presented by the German Sustainability Award Foundation in cooperation with the federal government, leading municipal associations, business associations, civil society organisations and research institutions.
