The winners of the Pida Sweden - Packaging Impact Design Award - design competition organised by BillerudKorsnäs have been announced. The competition's top prize, the Pida Gold Award, went to the „Lost in Senses“ packaging project.
According to the jury, the winning packaging for a tea set perfectly fulfils this year's task - to create packaging, that appeals to all the senses.
The winning team, design students Jenny Noshi, Anna Carlén, Moa Tillbom and Martin Lilius from Nackademin on their project: „It's a great feeling to win the Pida Gold Award. Our design is colourful and detailed, with matte and glossy print, pop-ups and interactive panels that draw the eye. In a way, the packaging is the product. We have seen that this an unexplored area on the market and we have found a gap that we can fill.“
The design students who won the Pida Gold Award at the Swedish Pida event automatically qualify for the grand final on 27 September at the Luxe Pack trade fair in Monaco. Here the Swedish design students against the winners of the other three semi-finals students from the USA/UK, France and Germany.
More students honoured in the Pida design competition
Three further prizes were awarded during the event. „Norgård“, a packaging for organic skin care, received the Highest Level of Innovation Award. The Highest Level of User Friendliness Award went to the „Wild“ entry, a gift box for wine. And the Highest Level of Sustainability Award received „Deobar“, a packaging solution for deodorant sticks.

The winners were selected by a jury of prominent industry experts who were very impressed by this year's participants.
„The judges were very impressed with the thoughtful and exciting concepts presented by the teams in this competition. We discussed and debated the entries at length before deciding on the winning team in each category. Creative arena for the packaging industry
BillerudKorsnäs, the company behind Pida, is organising the competition in Collaboration with leading universities and design colleges in the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany and Sweden. The competition gives students the opportunity to work on a real packaging design project under the same conditions as an authentic brief. It is also a chance for the students to present their ideas and creativity to established professionals who come to the events each year to be inspired and meet the packaging designers of tomorrow.
„With Pida, we want to drive forward the development of packaging design and at the same time create a meeting place for the industry and schools. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the competition and interest is growing year on year - both at schools and in the packaging industry. It is particularly exciting that we have invited American students for the first time,“ says Anderes Gathu, Marketing Manager BillerudKorsnäs.
