Schur Flexibles takes over Italian film manufacturer Termoplast

Schur Flexibles is accelerating the further expansion of its market position in Italy with the acquisition of Termoplast S.r.L.. The sustainably orientated company produces recyclable films and has its own recycling company.

Schur Flexibles is accelerating the further expansion of its market position in Italy with the acquisition of Termoplast S.r.L.. The sustainably orientated company produces recyclable films and has its own recycling company.

Specialising in recyclable films, Termoplast S.r.L. is one of the pioneers in sustainable film production in Europe. The 100 per cent recyclable MDO-PE films offer good processing options in all printing processes and also for special applications for industrial companies as well as the food, medical and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, Termoplast sets new standards with its own recycling company already on Zero Waste and recycling management in our own production and in the processing of Post Industrial Waste.

 Low material thickness, high barrier function, ideal for further processing

Termoplast operates 26,500 square metres of production space at its site in Gambassi Terme/Florence with modern and energy-efficient machinery for film production. The extensive product portfolio includes, for example Sustainable sealable films, barrier and high-barrier films as well as peelable and resealable films. The company focuses holistically on resource efficiency: the recyclable MDO-PE films fulfil excellent barrier functions and further processing options even with exceptionally low material thickness. The focus is on industrial companies and customers in the food, medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Management team continues to lead Termoplast

The family business, which is run by a second and third generation management team, has 100 employees and most recently generated annual sales of around EUR 50 million (2020), with an average annual production volume of around 28,000 tonnes of film material. In line with the zero waste strategy, the complete waste from our own production is recycled. In addition, post-industrial plastic waste from the region is also prepared for further processing in our own recycling company.

Schur Flexibles Acquires 100 per cent of the company shares In line with the Group's integration strategy, the current owners and managing directors of the second and third generation will continue to manage the company and ensure continuity in the future. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price and the transaction was closed at the end of June.
