With the new EcoRefill series, Nivea wants to take a further step towards sustainable packaging. The company is currently trialling the refillable soap dispensers in some Tesco shops in the UK.
The new EcoRefill hand soap dispenser is not only refillable but, according to the company, also consists of 100 per cent recycled materials. The accompanying soap tablets are also packaged in FSC-certified paper. Only the pump of the bottle is not recyclable as it consists of too many different components. The soap should also 25 per cent more productive than Nivea's standard liquid soaps.
This is how it works:
At Nivea, the three Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) become „refill, reuse, reduce“. With the EcoRefill soap dispensers, this is simply done with lwarm water, one tablet and a little physical effort. Fill the soap dispenser with water up to the mark, add the tablet and shake the mixture for 30 seconds. You have soap to wash your hands again and this process can be repeated as soon as the soap is empty.
EcoRefill soon in Germany too?
Currently the Nivea EcoRefill hand soap only as Pilot project in selected Tesco shops in the UK as a spokesperson for the company told packaging journal. No decision has yet been made regarding a product launch on the German market at this time.
