Sustainable products are also increasingly in demand in the coatings industry. Lott-Lacke from Herford has two coating systems in its programme that are produced on the basis of recycled or renewable raw materials and are also used in the packaging sector.
With the product group naRoLaa varnish based on renewable raw materials, Lott-Lacke has been on the market for years. In the early days, this lacquer was used exclusively on environmentally friendly cork and wooden flooring, but nowadays it is just as frequently used on bio-based plastics and paperfor the coating of corrugated cardboard, for example.
Only raw materials that are either 100 per cent or proportionately made from renewable raw materials are used in production. The designation naRoLa becomes only from a proportion of more than 50 per cent renewable raw materials in the paint composition awarded. The customer and their technical requirements for the coating determine the possible proportion of renewable raw materials in the coating formulation, which can be between 50 and 100 per cent.
Recycled paints for new applications
The company from Herford has With reCyLa, we also have a recycled paint in our portfolio. Used paint undergoes a defined quality assurance process and can then be used as a raw material specifically for new paints, which are marketed as reCyLa paints.
Used coatings are created, for example, when the best-before date expires or are generated by the customer during the production process. As a rule, reCyLa coating systems contain the Raw material used paint (recyclate) in a range between 5 and 25 per cent.
As there are now requirements across all industries to use products with a certain proportion of recycled materials, the company wants to support its customers in these new projects with the reCyLa product group. Lott-Lacke calculates on request the sustainable coating systems also CO2 footprint.
