
Schreiner Group, a label manufacturer based in Oberschleissheim near Munich in Bavaria, has set itself the goal of achieving complete climate neutrality by 2030. The first step on the way there is to be climate-neutral production from as early as 2023.
On the car park roofs are Photovoltaic systems installed, Insect-friendly flower strips support their own Bee colonies, on the company premises there are Charging stations for electric vehicles, the most recently constructed building is a completely climate-neutral „green building“ - The topic of environmental awareness is a central theme at the Schreiner Group very present in Oberschleissheim. „But we have achieved much more in recent years,“ reports Thomas Gulden, Head of Environmental Management. „CO2 emissions have been reduced by 70 per cent and the proportion of renewable energies is over 55 per cent. We also only use green electricity at our German sites.“
Climate-neutral production planned from 2023
The Bavarians have now set themselves a concrete goal: „By manufacturing sustainable products, we want to Produce climate-neutrally from 2023 and achieve complete climate neutrality by 2030.“ This is the strategic sustainability goal that the manufacturer of labels and functional parts has adopted. To this end, the company has CO2 reduction and energy efficiency measures, to the Saving resources and avoiding waste, but also for compliance with corporate governance and Respect for human rights bundled and optimised.
According to the company, it has already succeeded in reducing CO2 emissions, by using materials such as recyclates instead of petroleum-based plastics. All products manufactured in this way can be recognised by the „Integrated Sustainability“ logo. The company also saves almost 300 tonnes of waste every year through recycling measures. Compliance with social standards is regulated in the Code of Conduct and is regularly reviewed - including by suppliers.
