The US company Consumer Convenience Technologies (CCT) is presenting an aluminium version of its patented Eeasy lid at the World of Private Label trade fair in Amsterdam from 31 May to 1 June. This enables consumers to vent a jar of food at the simple touch of a button, making it easier to open.

Tests have shown that the lid reduces the twisting force required to open a glass lid by more than 58 per cent for conventional cam lids (twist-off lids) and by 40 per cent compared to standard lids with a continuous thread (screw-on lids). At the beginning of this year, CCT announced that it is now producing the world's first aluminium cam cover. This means that CCT's Eeasy cover is now available in both cam and screw versions, both of which are made of aluminium.

CCT has partnered with Germany-based Trade Consult - a sales and marketing company focussed on the food industry and food manufacturers - to generate interest and arrange meetings with both national brands and private label companies and to coordinate the entire introduction of the lid on the European market.

"Based on our years of experience in the food and retail industry, we immediately recognised the value of the Eeasy lid for brands and consumers," said Friedrich Berlemann, CEO of Trade Consult. "Apart from the ease of use that we urgently need in packaging, the aluminium lid with flap version is more sustainable than conventional steel alternatives. As the European markets place high demands on sustainability, the Eeasy lid fulfils all the requirements for packaging innovation."
