Achema 2022: Focus on sustainability and digitalisation

From 22 to 26 August, Achema 2022 will focus on the industry's top themes of sustainability and digitalisation.

In addition to the transformation towards a climate-neutral chemical industry and the perennial topic of digitalisation, the current global political situation is also presenting the process industry with massive challenges. From 22 to 26 August, Achema 2022 will offer answers and solutions to the industry's current issues.

Germany and Europe want to become climate-neutral by 2050. Also the chemical industry is working on technologies to achieve this goal. What are the opportunities, challenges and hurdles? What are the necessary political framework conditions and incentives? What financial instruments are needed? These questions will be addressed at the opening event of the Achema under the title „Climate-neutral chemical industry“.

The „Green Innovation Zone“ also addresses the challenges and solutions for a sustainable future. highlights green innovations and the challenges facing the process industry on the road to climate-neutral production. The trade fair will focus on five areas: climate-neutral production, the circular economy, industrial water, sustainable chemistry and the bio-based economy.

„The process industry will only fulfil its responsibility for sustainable value creation if it consistently and fully electrifies its plants and uses hydrogen as an energy source in the medium term. The industry is already making great efforts in this area and the challenge is huge - but it can be achieved.“

„With the Achema this year - perhaps more than ever - we are setting an example, that technological cooperation across industry boundaries, but also across national borders, is indispensable, to solve the major crises of our time,“ says Thomas Scheuring, Managing Director of Dechema Ausstellungs-GmbH.

Digital Hub and Digital Lab offer hands-on digitalisation

The topic of digitalisation is also finally at the top of the process industry's agenda. This is supported by the new exhibition group „Digital Hub“ Invoice: It is the central meeting point for digital experts and all participants who are interested in the digital transformation of the process industry or are actively involved in shaping it. The exhibition area with a central stage puts digital showcases of the process industry in the spotlight and thus offers both the latest findings from experts and solution providers as well as space for future-oriented discussions.

In addition, five use cases for the networked and digitalised laboratory will be presented in the „Digital Lab“ action area - the smart laboratory of tomorrow to experience, touch and try out. Device and software manufacturers will showcase cross-manufacturer digitalisation solutions using relevant practical examples.

The spectrum ranges from Cobot-assisted work processes for sample preparation and analysis, through user-orientated process control with laboratory execution systems, to horizontally and vertically networked yet modularly adaptable device solutions with the prospect of shared laboratory infrastructure and seamless integration from sample receipt to quality-assured analysis results. „Digitalisation, sustainability, security of supply - the challenges that lie ahead are enormous and can be only together and across sectors cope with,“ says Thomas Scheuring.
