
Alpla strengthens the presence of the Pharma business division in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with the acquisition of the Polish company Apon. Apon produces plastic packaging for the pharmaceutical industry at its site in Żyrardów near Warsaw.
Bottles, containers, closures, dosing systems and accessories in certified cleanroom quality: Alpla produces Plastic packaging for pharmaceutical products since 2016 here. The rapidly growing segment was launched in 2019 under the Alplapharma bundled and successively expanded. Alplapharma is continuing its expansion course with the acquisition of the Polish company Apon.

Apon was founded in 1985 as a family business. Today, around 45 employees at the Żyrardów site near Warsaw produce bottles with a filling volume of 5 to 100 millilitres, containers with screw or snap-on closures and medical accessories such as dosing aids. The primary packaging for medicines is manufactured in a clean room in accordance with ISO 15378.
The company also manufactures Packaging for food supplements and the e-liquid sector. HDPE, LDPE, PP and PET plastics are used as packaging materials. Annual production totals over 200 million units.
Integration into the Alpla Group is advantageous for both sides: in addition to opening up new markets, it ensures the Access to technological expertise and packaging innovations. All of Apon's staff will be taken on.

Future market pharmaceuticals
Alplapharma is represented with main sites in Egypt, Greece, Romania, South Africa and Poland as well as production plants in nine other countries. Further expansion steps are planned in the near future. The range is also being expanded. In addition to standard products for the pharmaceutical industry, the focus is on over-the-counter (OTC) packaging for non-prescription or over-the-counter medicines and food supplements. Alplapharma recently launched Production expanded to include flexible EBM technology (extrusion blow moulding) and thus enables sustainable, weight-reduced and cost-efficient containers.
