New filling line for water in 1-litre PET bottles

With the new bottling line, Sidel is supporting the growth and increased production output of Mont Roucous in France.

With the new filling line, Sidel is supporting the growth of Mont Roucous in France. The company wanted to achieve a higher production output and opted for a complete filling line from Sidel.

From the outset, Mont Roucous water has positioned itself on the market as the ideal water for mothers and babies and has long been recommended by maternity clinics. In response to parents' requests for more practical handling, the bottle format was changed from 1.5 litres to 1 litre. To cope with the higher production output in 1-litre bottles, Mont Roucous worked with Sidel together and decided in favour of a Complete bottling line with a production capacity of 40,000 bottles/hour. Following the installation of this new plant in October 2021, the milestone of 100 million bottles was reached at the end of May 2022.

"Given the expertise required to complete such a project in a relatively short timeframe, we opted for Sidel's expertise and experience, giving us a single point of contact who could manage the project from start to finish. And Sidel did not disappoint. Working with our teams, Sidel took responsibility for the entire project, from the design and engineering of the complete system to the manufacture and installation of the machines. And, of course, our specifications were met and our specific expectations fulfilled."

Since the end of November 2021, the Sidel line has been successfully producing 40,000 bph. The filling line integrates the latest generation of Sidel machines, from the Combi EvoBLOW SF100FM to an EvoFlex palletiser, plus an EvoDECO roll-fed labeller and the EvoFilm film packer.

"The optimised layout of the system is perfectly adapted to the specifications of the new building. Its ergonomic design and the correctly dimensioned buffering based on our specifications and the recommended standards simplify system management and provide excellent maintenance conditions when required. The number of operators is in line with our initial expectations. We also have digital solutions on board: the system is equipped with an EIT (Efficiency Improvement Tool) that constantly records and analyses the system's performance data and makes continuous improvements."

After the machines were delivered in summer 2021, they were installed, which made it possible to achieve the contractually agreed efficiency by October 2021. Since that date, over 140 million bottles have already been produced. The support of Sidel experts was central to the success of the project. And not just during the design, installation and commissioning phases. The eight-week technical training course at the Mont Roucous site was also essential for the teams to optimise the operation of the plant and acquire technical knowledge of the various machines. Not to mention Sidel's aftermarket service, 24-hour support and spare parts availability.

"We are very proud of this plant and the potential it offers us for the growth of Mont Roucous. Our market share is constantly increasing, in the last two years our turnover has increased by 10 %. And we are looking forward to commissioning a second Sidel Combi for additional bottle formats in early 2023."
