When products are transported from A to B, they may be exposed to difficult conditions and must be protected accordingly. Corrosion protection plays an important role here and VCI materials are often used. MetPro offers these with a recycled content and based on natural extracts.
Especially when transporting and storing Metals such as steel, copper, zinc or brass are at risk of corrosion, white rust and verdigris, if the goods are not properly protected from moisture. With the VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors) system, it is possible to Materials and particularly hard-to-reach areas, such as in threads, are protected can be used. Different products can be used for this: VCI films, papers or bags.
These protect products from moisture in particular. Integrated vapour phase inhibitors are released from the packaging. They create a vapour-like protective layer around the product to be protected - temporary corrosion protection. With the BioCor series, which is based on BioVCI technology, MetPro offers such protection, but without the use of conventional VCI chemicals.

Safe and harmless protection
Instead, natural extracts from coconut, for example, are used. BioCor was launched in 2014 and has been providing various industries with natural corrosion protection for their products ever since. MetPro's portfolio also includes BioCor-R solutions, which rely on a recyclate content of up to 75 per cent, and BioCor-HP films, which are reduced in thickness. but have the same properties as conventional films. The optimised and sustainable solutions also help companies to reduce their CO2-emissions during packaging.
„The use of natural raw materials represents a real step towards decarbonising the automotive value chain and making it more environmentally friendly. This is exactly the opposite of „greenwashing“ and confirms our company's guiding principle: functionality does not exclude sustainability.“
Dr Tom Giessler, Managing Director MetPro

Another advantage for companies and especially their employees: With the BioCor series, the Carrier material free from nitrites, amines and benzotriazole acid and therefore harmless from an occupational health perspective. The films are also approved for direct contact with food and can be used flexibly, for example in extruded plastic, paper or liquids.
Of course, BioCor must also fulfil the requirements placed on conventional corrosion protection. As the films with a similar film thickness as commercially available products companies do not incur any additional costs. MetPro's solutions are used in the automotive industry in particular and ensure that goods are transported in a corrosion-free and moisture-controlled manner.
The company recently received a special honour for its BioCor brand. It was included in Die Zeit's “Brands of the Century” programme. Dr Tom Giessler comments:
„Firstly, the unique „Brand of the Century“ award makes us at MetPro very proud. Furthermore, this award, which is presented by a high-calibre jury, puts us on a par with globally renowned brands. The award reminds all employees what our brand stands for: innovative packaging solutions for temporary protection against corrosion - for our customers and in harmony with nature.“
