In a pilot project, the rlc packaging group and various partner companies are supporting the launch of the start-up beauty label Coscoon: as part of a cooperation, the rlc packaging group, brandpack, BillerudKorsnäs, Fixum Creative Technology and VerDeSoft are developing a holistic packaging concept for Coscoon. The project could set a precedent.
Coscoon has been a start-up on the market as a provider of organic natural cosmetics since 2016.
„Coscoon's unusual product idea, which was thought through down to the last detail, convinced us,“ explains Stephan Bestehorn, As a holistic system provider, we have very extensive consulting expertise to develop the optimum packaging concept for the young label. We were also able to gain additional value-added partners for the implementation.„
Together with brandpack (packaging design), BillerudKorsnäs (cardboard), Fixum Creative Technology (alternative packaging closure solutions) and VerDeSoft (consulting and engineering), rlc promotes the transfer of expertise and enables the start-up to realise its innovative product idea more quickly and significantly shorten the time to market.
The cooperation gave rise to an idea for the future: under the label „Packaging Angels“ rlc, in collaboration with its partners, would like to offer start-up support to other young entrepreneurs with forward-looking ideas.
„In this way, we accelerate the market maturity of a product concept enormously and avoid the mistakes that start-ups often make due to a lack of packaging experience. We can also learn from looking beyond the product itself. It's also a great demonstration of what packaging is capable of when it comes to marketing products,“ comments Bestehorn.
Natural cosmetics for self-stirring
Do It Yourself (DIY): Making natural cosmetics yourself - that's Coscoon's idea. Coscoon's DIY kits contain everything customers need to make their own organic beauty products: Recipes, moulds, spatulas, hygiene gloves, labels and the actual ingredients. The company only uses high-quality raw materials such as oils and butter from certified organic cultivation. As the products are prepared fresh in small quantities, no preservatives are required.
Pure, clear, sustainableThe packaging of the DIY kits reflects the brand values and at the same time stands out with a special look. To this end, the packaging design agency brandpack, which emerged from rlc, redesigned the kits and the labels produced by the closure expert Fixum Creative Technology. At the same time, rlc conceptualised all the designs - from the outer packaging to the individual DIY moulds. The packaging service provider VerDeSoft further optimises the entire packaging appearance at sustainability aspects.
The concept envisages replacing most of the plastic in the existing packaging with cardboard and New possibilities for secondary use to create. Sustainability also plays a decisive role in the choice of cartonboard: Swedish manufacturer BillerudKorsnäs sees sustainability as an integral part of the value chain and sources its raw material from sustainably managed forests. The special Artisan cartonboard used for the packaging can also be processed in a variety of ways and is ideal for the production of the packaging that rlc realises.
