The Corrugated Board Austria Awards were presented for the tenth time in Vienna. The Forum Wellpappe Austria honoured outstanding product ideas in six different categories. For the first time, there was a special prize for print design.
„The Corrugated Board Austria Award is the annual showcase of our industry and this year once again demonstrates how creative and efficient corrugated board packaging can be. The challenges we face as manufacturers today have changed significantly in recent years. What has not changed is the importance of corrugated board for supplying people and companies with everyday goods. Corrugated board packaging offers protection, increases durability, is an advertising ambassador at the point of sale and is inherently sustainable.“
Stephan Kaar, Spokesman for Forum Wellpappe Austria
Around 100 guests attended the award ceremony at the CasaNova cabaret in Vienna and were just as enthusiastic about the ideas as they were about the jokes performed by cabaret artist Nadja Maleh. Each winner of a Wellpappe Austria Award received a wooden sculpture by the Vorarlberg artist Stefan Kresser and is entitled to participate in the WorldStar, the award of the World Packaging Organisation. The award ceremony was hosted by ORF presenter Daniela Soykan-Tober.
Mondi Grünburg is the winner of the corrugated board constructive category for NKE Hybrid Bearings Box, a Transport packaging for industrial goods with integrated sensor. Steirerpack wins in the Point of Sale category with the PIEPS packaging for an avalanche beacon. The Hot or Cool display, submitted by Steirerpack, wins in the Corrugated Cardboard Displays category. And the packaging for connection carriers, produced by Rondo Ganahl from St. Ruprecht, is the winner in the corrugated cardboard sustainable category. Apprentices from Rondo Ganahl in Frastanz, Vorarlberg, are the winners with their Tic Tac Toe strategy game the winners of the young talent category, determined by online voting.
