In close cooperation with the parent company Kiefel, Bosch Sprang has registered a new patent for an innovative moulding tool system for the production of polypropylene coffee capsules. Thanks to the low material density of under 1,000 kg/m3, the capsules are recyclable in water separation systems.
The new tool system has already been tested and statistically analysed, and is compatible with almost all tilting machines without special adjustments. The unique technology is based on a series of innovative and multifunctional elements within the tool, which enable and control the production of coffee capsules with very specific mechanical properties. These mechanical characteristics ensure a trouble-free capsule insertion in all commercial K-Cup coffee systems.
The production line consists of a Kiefel KTR 6.1 Speed, a Bosch 91-cavity mould, and the Mould & Matic pick-up stacker. The total capacity operating 24/7 is 1 billion capsules per year. The plant underlines Kiefel's commitment to providing complete turnkey solutions. It was first presented to the public at the Kiefel-Kuhne Cup Days in March 2018.

Compressed air forming machine KTR 6.1 Speed
According to the company, the Thermorunner KTR 6.1 Speed compressed air forming machine sets new standards in terms of speed, power, and a larger forming area. This enables higher output, new trend products, and the processing of a wider range of materials such as (R)PET, PP, PS, PLA, and PE, as well as foamed plastics. Tailor-made automation is completed by a pick-up stacker.
