LogiMAT opened its doors today in Stuttgart under the motto „Shaping change together - Sustainability - AI - Ergonomics”. Until Thursday, around 1,500 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest product developments and solutions for efficient intralogistics and digitalisation at the international trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management. On today's first day of the trade fair, top achievements were honoured with the „Best Product“ award.

This year's winners are an innovative picking robot, a world first that picks orders in the warehouse aisles, a packaging machine that produces customised cardboard boxes or envelopes depending on the requirements of the product to be packaged and an AI voice control system for WMS systems. The independent jury of scientists and journalists selected three worthy award winners from more than one hundred and twenty applications received out. With their products, the award-winning companies contribute to secure processes, flexible adaptation to changes and improved efficiency, ultimately increasing productivity in logistics.

In the „Picking, conveying, lifting and storage technology“ category, the prize went to the Slovakian company Brightpick / Photoneo s.r.o. ffor the Brightpick Autopicker. In the category „Identification, packaging and loading technology, load securing“, the prize went to the company CMC Packaging Automation S.p.A from Italy. The CMC CartonWrap DUO machine was honoured. In the „Software, Communication, IT“ category, the prize went to the German company Logistics Reply GmbH for the first bidirectional Open AI voice control for warehouse management systems LEApedia.

„I am particularly pleased that the award winners this year come from three countries. This emphasises the importance of LogiMAT as an international hotspot for innovations and the radiance that emanates from the Stuttgart location. The three products honoured with the „Best Product 2024“ award are exemplary for all other international exhibitors who showcase their innovations to trade visitors at LogiMAT.“

World firsts in all segments

Sustainability, artificial intelligence and ergonomics - the majority of exhibitors are focussing on at least one of these three key topics with their exhibits. The spectrum ranges from the automation and digital transformation of business processes, to counter the shortage of skilled labour and skilled workers, energy-saving options and efficient use of resources through to AI-based tools for quickly and intelligently analysing the data collected. It is also about securing IT networks and supply chain resilience. There will be premieres, world firsts and innovations in all segments.

Above all the topic of artificial intelligence and its integration into current product and solution developments determines large parts of the trade fair programme. This key technology is already an integral part of intralogistics and is also shaping the trade fair's supporting programme this year. This Tuesday, for example, Michael ten Hompel, Managing Director of the Fraunhofer IML, discussed with three young founders how they are facing up to the future and how they are developing new technologies, opening up new markets and inspiring investors.

The packaging sector is not neglected at the trade fair either. Exhibitors present Intelligent solutions for current requirements in dispatch production. Sustainability is currently a high priority here. Manufacturers and suppliers are responding by incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and environmentally friendly cushioning materials, outer packaging and the establishment of (reusable) recycling systems. In addition, the trend towards the individualisation of packaging remains dominant.

And at LogiMAT, the AutoID industry will be showcasing labelling for the first time. Innovations such as cloud labelling, new recycled material combinations, reusable labels and RFID tags with ePaper display. Identification solutions will include a modularly designed registration gate and new multi-range scanners.
