Packaging is increasingly being assessed from a sustainability perspective. It is well known that plastic packaging is under particular scrutiny. The public debate about this is quite emotional. In our third industry talk, we have ensured objectification and consensus.
Plastic is fantastic. If you now think that this statement can only be made by a plastic packaging manufacturer, you're right.
However, there was also a consensus that plastics must be one thing above all else in the future: recyclable. Whether made from petroleum or renewable raw materials, biodegradability or compostability alone cannot be a sustainable solution. The ideal packaging of the future is recyclable and for cascade utilisation made.
Those who want to abolish plastics are not necessarily more sustainable, which was also a statement in our discussion round. Another positive statement was that companies are increasingly networking with each other in order to work together to achieve more sustainability. Intelligently designed plastics for the circular economy to develop.
