Dunapack Packaging, part of the Prinzhorn Group, has reached an agreement with Stora Enso to acquire its German corrugated packaging business. The transaction includes Gaster Wellpappe, Wellpappe Sausenheim, and PTI in southwestern Germany. With this acquisition, Dunapack aims to expand its regional presence and strengthen its paper integration within the group.
Dunapack Packaging is expanding its activities in the German corrugated board packaging market with its planned takeover. According to the company, the transaction includes the Gaster Wellpappe, Wellpappe Sausenheim, and PTI sites in Southwest Germany. The units together employ around 350 people and achieved a turnover of approximately €74 million in 2025.
Expansion of presence in Germany
With this acquisition, Dunapack Packaging expands its geographic presence in a key market for the packaging industry. At the same time, the transaction is intended to strengthen vertical integration within the Prinzhorn Group. The company highlights the interplay with Hamburger Containerboard within the integrated business model.
The acquisition is still subject to merger control approval. Completion is expected to take place in the course of 2026.
Focus on corrugated packaging
With the three companies, Dunapack Packaging secures additional capacities in the corrugated packaging sector in southwest Germany. This is intended to strengthen the market position in the region for existing and new customers. At the same time, the newly acquired sites are to be integrated into the company's existing structure.
