FIFA now permits sealed single-use plastic bottles

After Publication of stadium regulations FIFA has clarified its guidelines. According to these, visitors to World Cup matches in the USA and Canada may bring one original, sealed, single-use plastic water bottle with a capacity of up to 590 millilitres into the stadium.

In a post on X The FIFA explained: „All fans will be permitted to bring in one, soft, plastic, 20 ounces (590ml), factory sealed disposable water bottle into any FIFA World Cup 2026 match in the USA and Canada.“

According to him, reusable water bottles will again be excluded from all World Cup matches.

This is how FIFA will differentiate between sealed single-use water bottles and reusable drinking bottles in the future. While the use of single-use containers will be permitted, multiple-use bottles will remain on the list of prohibited items.
