Mettler-Toledo has expanded its range of inspection solutions in Europe with the introduction of the Eagle X-ray inspection systems. These systems are specifically tailored to the requirements of the food industry and offer innovative technologies for inspecting both packaged and unpackaged products.
Mettler-Toledo has integrated the Eagle product line into its existing portfolio to serve the European market with high-performance inspection solutions. The systems are equipped with dual-energy photon counting technology, which enables precise material differentiation. This is particularly advantageous in the meat and poultry industries, where reliably identifying bone fragments and other foreign objects is crucial.
The introduction of these systems in Europe not only means a wider selection of inspection solutions for food manufacturers, but also improved access to local support and service. The systems, produced in Royston, UK, are designed to meet specific customer requirements and make production lines more efficient.
Focus on meat and poultry applications
The new product line places a particular emphasis on applications within the meat and poultry industry. The systems offer not only high detection sensitivity but also functions for fat analysis. This enables manufacturers to monitor the fat-to-lean ratio in real-time, thereby improving production control. The combination of X-ray inspection and fat analysis ensures that products meet the highest quality standards while simultaneously reducing production costs.
Premiere at Interpack 2026
A highlight of the launch will be the presentation of the Maximizer RMI at Interpack 2026. This system combines Eagle RMI 400 X-ray technology with an automated material handling solution. It is specifically designed for the inspection of deboned poultry and offers efficient rejection management. Initial application tests have shown that the system increases detection probability and minimises false rejections, leading to an optimisation of profit margins.
A holistic approach
The philosophy behind Mettler-Toledo's expanded portfolio is based on the principles of „Inspect. Protect. Comply.“. These inspection solutions allow food manufacturers to protect their brand and productivity while meeting increasing regulatory demands. Photon-counting X-ray inspection technologies offer improved detection sensitivity, enabling manufacturers to respond to the changing needs of the market.
Chris Plant, Head of Market Management, Global Sales at Mettler-Toledo Safeline X-ray, highlights the significance of this expansion: „By introducing these technologies in Europe, processors will benefit from greater choice, state-of-the-art detection efficiency, and comprehensive support from a single supplier.“ The systems are now available throughout Europe via the regional Mettler-Toledo market organisations.
