Kapag has developed an innovative paper composite that serves as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastic labels for fruit and vegetable nets. The cardboard label can bear the weight of a filled net and is also recyclable and FSC-certified. This development is part of the Changemaker cardboard range, which Kapag is presenting at Interpack together with its Swedish sister company Oppboga Bruk.
Kapag's products, a company specialising in cardboard and paper lamination, comply with the requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which aims to minimise the use of fossil fuels such as plastic. In addition to new cardboard labels, Kapag's product range includes various packaging solutions, such as flat-skin packaging, which is particularly suitable for fish and meat, as well as trays for cheese slices or cold cuts. These solutions offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional packaging materials.
Wide product range
Another highlight of the range is a weather-resistant cardboard suitable for industrial packaging. The offering is complemented by a heat-sealable barrier cardboard that effectively protects food from aggressive fats, water vapour, oxygen, and aroma loss. These products not only offer protection and shelf life but also contribute to the reduction of plastic waste.
