New task for Kim Cheng

Kim Cheng takes over the management of the BVE. The sustainability and circular economy expert will be responsible for industrial policy issues in the food industry.

The Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) has appointed Kim Cheng as its new Managing Director with effect from 1 May 2025. She succeeds Stefanie Sabet, who is moving to the German Farmers' Association as Secretary General.

In future, Cheng will be responsible for industrial policy, among other things. Christoph Minhoff (Managing Director), Peter Feller (Deputy Managing Director) and Olivier Kölsch will remain members of the Management Board.

Expertise from the packaging industry

Kim Cheng is a recognised expert in the circular economy and sustainability. From 2016 to 2024 she was Managing Director of the German Packaging Institute (dvi). In this role, she played a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the association and represented the interests of the industry in politics, business and the public.

She previously worked for the German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services Association. The 45-year-old lawyer studied at Humboldt University in Berlin and passed her second state examination in law.

In Cheng, the BVE says it has gained a leader who operates at the interface of industry, regulation and sustainability.
