The Italian packaging industry is facing a change in leadership: Maurizio Bertocco, Chairman and CEO of Ilpra, has been nominated as the new President of UCIMA (Association of Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers) for the 2026-2030 term. The association's nomination committee has proposed Bertocco as the successor to Riccardo Cavanna. The decision is to be made at the General Assembly on 2nd July 2026.

In an increasingly complex and competitive market environment, UCIMA sees the need to strengthen its role as a central point of contact for the industry. Bertocco emphasised the importance of strong collective representation to promote the competitiveness of member companies. He plans to further strengthen the association through technological innovations and sustainable approaches.

Maurizio Bertocco has been leading Ilpra, an innovative SME based in Mortara, Pavia, since the 1980s. The company, founded in 1955 and listed on the stock exchange, produces and distributes packaging machinery for the food, cosmetic, and medical sectors. Under Bertocco's leadership, Ilpra has expanded its presence to 130 countries, establishing itself in European and international markets.

With Bertocco's nomination, UCIMA signals its intention to further strengthen the global presence and reputation of the Italian packaging industry. The focus will be on the challenges of technological innovation and sustainability. Bertocco plans to support the competitiveness of member companies and guide the sector through these challenges.
