Three times gold at the German Packaging Award 2025

At Fachpack, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) honoured the 37 winners of the German Packaging Award 2025 and announced the Gold Awards, with which the jury also honoured three particularly groundbreaking innovations.

At Fachpack, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) honoured the 37 winners of the German Packaging Award 2025. The highlight of the event was the announcement of the Gold Awards, with which the jury also honoured three particularly ground-breaking innovations.

Over 200 submissions from 15 countries and three continents were entered into this year's competition across all materials. After a thorough examination, the independent jury of experts 37 outstanding innovations from Germany, Iran, Austria, Switzerland and the USA were honoured with the coveted award. In Nuremberg, the teams from the award-winning companies received their trophies on a grand stage from dvi Chairman Thomas Reiner.

Once again this year, the jury made use of the opportunity to recognise particularly ground-breaking innovations. from the circle of packaging award winners to be honoured and awarded with an additional Gold Award.

Gold for AeroFlexx

According to the jury, the liquid packaging from US company AeroFlexx Innovative Liquid Packaging Technology is characterised by its innovative combination of function and sustainability. The packaging for products such as shower gels or sauces is made of flexible LDPE and therefore requires significantly less material than comparable bottles. This saves resources and actively contributes to reducing waste.

The unique design ensures a stable and robust structure thanks to the integrated Airframe air cushion. At the same time, it enables Self-closing valve technology ensures complete emptying of the contents and offers maximum convenience during use. The easily recyclable packaging was honoured with the Packaging Award in the Functionality & Convenience category and has now also received the jury's Gold Award.

Gold for Dachser

The global logistics service provider Dachser SE, based in Kempten, has received the Gold Award for its Retail Box. The innovative and novel returnable system for European general cargo logistics enables the environmentally friendly transport of sensitive or high-value goods as standard consignments via the general cargo network. The Lockable reusable containers in Euro pallet and Euro half pallet dimensions has an innovative Digital tracking systemcan be used and returned efficiently in the mixed operation of heterogeneous general cargo logistics and thus optimises the processes in shipping and at the POS.

The Retail Box has a payload of 500 kilograms and a load volume of 1.84 cubic metres, can be secured with a seal and can be opened and closed. in less than 50 seconds. When folded, it takes up only 73 per cent of the space of a Euro pallet, making the transport of empties efficient and significantly more sustainable. Following the Packaging Award in the Logistics & Material Flow category, Dachser has now also received the Gold Award for its innovation.

Gold for Gropper dairy

In July 2025, the PP mono-material packaging for RTD coffee from the Gropper dairy was honoured by the jury with the Packaging Award in the Sustainability / Recyclability category. Now the PP cup for ready-to-drink coffee also won the Gold Award. According to the jury, the packaging shows how well thought-out design, material intelligence and user-orientation can merge into a genuine innovation and set new standards in sustainable packaging development.

The centrepiece of the solution is a cleverly integrated in-mould label, which replaces the classic aluminium plate, takes over the function of the first opening, remains on the lid after opening and, like the entire cup, is made of pure polypropylene. In addition to an improved user experience, this also enables Recycling of all packaging by type. The innovation is also impressive in terms of production, as the cup and lid are joined using energy-efficient ultrasonic welding, which means that no adhesives are required and product safety is increased.
