With cLynx.print, Saueressig GmbH offers intelligent control software that calculates possible surface and production defects on the gravure cylinder. Thanks to a fine analysis, cLynx.print distinguishes with high precision between Material defects, impurities and actual production errors, which are displayed at the end of the process.

Stephan Lammers, Global Director Packaging at Saueressig GmbH, explains: „With this in-house development, we can optimise our production process and are in a position to meet the high quality requirements even better.“ Saueressig has applied for a patent for the process.

cLynx.print carries out a digital comparison between the repro and the print result. Possible deviations from the original are immediately displayed in the programme and evaluated by trained personnel. If a suspected defect is confirmed, a check is carried out directly on the cylinder and - if necessary - it is re-produced. This new type of inspection should eliminate the need to dispatch and check press proofs in the future, thereby significantly simplifying incoming inspections at the customer's premises.

The production process is continuously optimised by cLynx.print, explains Lammers:

Display

„The special feature is that this print image inspection was specially developed to inspect gravure cylinders for the smallest defects. cLynx.print detects 99.9% of all defects. This makes us a pioneer on the international market and creates a new form of quality assurance.“

Developed for security printing

The software was originally developed for security printing. The internal application was extended to the area of Consumer goods packaging and promises further development potential according to Saueressig: „In theory, cLynx.print can also be used to analyse any other cylinder or similar print template for errors. We will be working on a changeover in other areas in consultation with our customers in the future,“ says Lammers.
