Processing small formations of small products on a small footprint - the VP 600 carton packaging machine from Meypack now makes this triad possible. With this new development, the machine manufacturer specialising in individual end-of-line packaging systems is meeting the market requirements of the food industry. The VP 600 also offers fast format changeovers and a hygienic stainless steel design.

Food manufacturers must meet a growing demand for small packaging units and at the same time space is limited in many production facilities. With this in mind, Meypack designed the new VP 600 carton packaging machine for small, sensitive products in small packs. Thanks to the extremely compact frame dimensions, the machine can be integrated into any production hall.

The continuously operating VP 600 is ideal for demanding products such as soft packs/pouches, yoghurt pots or aluminium trays. In a further development stage, miniature bottles (glass and PET), small cans and jars will also be packaged efficiently and gently. The range of formats extends from 70 x 50 x 80 mm to 200 x 150 x 200 mm (WxLxH) and in the standard version the products can be bundled in trays, high board trays or display trays. All variants can also be produced with an inserted lid. In a model variant with larger frame dimensions, the system will soon also be able to process wrap-around trays, trouser carrier trays and trays with external lids. The packaging dimensions will then be extended accordingly.

Few format parts, high hygiene requirements

A small number of harmonised format parts allow quick and reproducible format changes, which can be carried out without tools. High availability is also ensured by the low-maintenance sliding and guide elements used (no centralised lubrication required) and the self-cleaning vacuum valves. The high demands of food processing with regard to hygiene in the final packaging area are fully met. A design with bevelled surfaces allows liquids to run off and the open construction ensures optimum accessibility without hidden corners and cavities. The Meypack designers have deliberately avoided the use of chains.

Display

The product feed of the VP 600, which was presented at the interpack 2017 was to be seen, takes place via a Fan chain with exchangeable belt, which has product-dependent compartments and paddles and also enables stacking and lining up. With a quick-change function, the belt can be changed at lightning speed and then automatically tensioned and positioned. The „mass flow principle“ feeding variant is being worked out in a further development stage. The height-adjustable blank magazines are easy to load and are equipped with saw-tooth belts for tray transport. This prevents excessive pressure being exerted at the removal position of the blank.

Meypack will be exhibiting a further development of the VP 600 prototype shown at interpack 2017 at the trade fair drinktec from 11 - 15 September 2017 in Munich, Hall A6, Stand 325.
