„50 years of innovation - and we still have big plans!“ This is the motto for 2017 for speciality machine manufacturer Bausch+Ströbel in Ilshofen. The company, which today manufactures filling and packaging systems for the pharmaceutical industry, was officially founded in 1967.
The company was founded after a two-year preparatory phase by the three young founders Rolf Ströbel, Wilhelm Bausch and Siegfried Bullinger in a garage, where the first machine was developed and tested.
Chance and the weather came to the rescue
It was an ampoule filling and sealing machine for hair setting products. At the time, chance helped them just as much as the weather. Because this product smelled pungent, the three young hobbyists banished the container to the cool outdoors. And thanks to the lower temperature of the filling material, the result was a significantly improved product. Filling speed, as the hair product no longer foamed so violently. A decisive advantage over the competition: the first customer was won and the company began to grow.
„Over the past five decades, the family-run company has developed into the global market leader “along the way". Today, the product range extends from semi-automatic machines for the laboratory sector to fully automatic stand-alone machines and highly complex systems in which objects such as vials, bottles, syringes, ampoules or cartridges are processed.
Rapid growth
Three years later, the initial four employees had already grown to 75, and the 40th anniversary was celebrated by 900 employees. In the meantime, the Ilshofen location Bausch+Ströbel has production sites in northern Germany and the USA as well as over 50 sales and service branches worldwide.
Wilco AG in Switzerland has also been part of the company since 2013. The high-precision, fully automated testing machines for leak testing and visual inspection as well as spectroscopic systems are a perfect addition to the Bausch+Ströbel range.
But despite rapid growth, the Values Bausch+ Ströbel has remained true to the principles of its founding years. The company has remained independent - all shares are held by the shareholder families Ströbel and Bullinger - and invests the profits in the development of the company and the people who work there.
