Moisture sensors protect multihead weighers from damage

Ishida has presented a system of moisture sensors for its multihead weighers that protect the equipment from moisture ingress.

If water penetrates during the processing of fresh or frozen food, multihead weighers can be damaged. Ishida has developed a system of moisture sensors that immediately detects and signals the ingress of moisture. This prevents production downtime and possible repairs.

Multihead weighers used in food processing usually have appropriate IP protection against splash water. Nevertheless, water can still enter the systems if, for example, flaps are left open or sealing air systems are defective.

In order to recognise such cases and prevent major damage, Ishida integrates Wetness and temperature sensors on three neuralgic points of the multihead weigher: underneath the top cover, in the centre body and in the base body of the machine.

Moisture sensors ensure automatic switch-off

If the system now detects excessive humidity levels, it emits increasingly stronger alarm messages. If the humidity level is between 80 and 89 per cent, the system switches off. At even higher humidity levels, acoustic or visual alarms are triggered. Warning signals output. The sensors can be linked to the Ishida Sentinel software, which monitors production in real time. The data obtained can be used for subsequent fault analysis.

The new humidity sensor system from Ishida is now available for all multihead weighers in the CCW-RV and CCW-RVE series. The system is installed as standard on the scale models designed for wet production environments.
