Actega DS invests heavily in Bremen site expansion

Actega DS, a specialist in closure and packaging technologies, is focussing on technological progress and is investing around 18 million euros in the expansion of its research and production site in Bremen over the next two years.

Actega DS, a specialist in closure and packaging technologies, is focussing on technological progress and is investing around 18 million euros in the expansion of its research and production site in Bremen over the next two years. According to the company, this site expansion will increase the production and storage area by 8,000 square metres, increase production capacity by 50 per cent and triple the research and development area. Construction work is due to start in spring 2018.

„With the extensive investments in the expansion of our production, warehousing, research and development capacities, we are expanding our location as a Innovation centre “, says Wilfried Lassek, Managing Director of Actega DS. Lassek continues: „This will allow us to accelerate the introduction new, patented technologies to continue to drive forward sophisticated and application-orientated solutions for Closures and packaging for the food and beverage industry. In addition, we will increasingly offer materials and technologies for products in the fields of medical technology and consumer goods. At the same time, these measures emphasise the importance of Bremen as a location for our company. The expansion of the site is necessary in order to meet the increasing customer demand for Special solutions to operate.

Actega DS is a traditional Bremen-based company. Founded in 1920 as Diersch & Schröder, the company develops, produces and sells innovative materials for closure and packaging technologies as well as for the medical, pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. For over 20 years, the company has been part of the Altana Group and thus to a globally represented group of companies. As a member of the Actega division, the company has a global structure that makes it possible to utilise synergies across technologies. 150 employees in Bremen work continuously on the introduction of new, patented technologies. Using state-of-the-art production facilities, more than 150 tonnes of high-tech plastic granules are already produced every day and exported to over 100 countries.
