AutoLoadBailer keeps cardboard waste tidy

Strautmann Umwelttechnik will also be exhibiting the AutoLoadBailer automatic paper baler at LogiMAT 2019. At J. G. Weisser Söhne GmbH & Co. KG, the system is proving its worth in the disposal logistics of cardboard waste.

The employees at Weisser empty the accumulated paper and cardboard waste into these collection containers, which are then regularly transported to the AutoLoadBailer press.

Strautmann Umwelttechnik from Glandorf is once again using LogiMAT to make new customer contacts this year. Time and again, trade fair visitors in search of disposal solutions for their cardboard waste come across the Lower Saxony-based provider's stand, such as Tobias Mettmann, Assistant to the Production Manager at J. G. Weisser Söhne GmbH & Co. KG.

The global system supplier for the automotive industry produces around 50 tonnes of waste per year. Cardboard waste on. Previously, this was collected in various waste containers and taken outside to a compactor. The disorganisation caused by the different types of containers and the heavy forklift traffic were disruptive and did not present a good image to the outside world. This type of time-consuming disposal also resulted in high rental and handling costs.

18 collection trolleys „feed“ two central presses

Together with Strautmann Environmental Technology Weisser implemented a new waste disposal concept. The centrepiece is two paper presses of the type AutoLoadBailer. A total of 18 collection trolleys for cardboard and paper are distributed throughout the company. Two employees from an external company now coordinate the entire disposal process at Weisser.

At Weisser, one AutoLoadBailer is located in the centre of the production hall, another in the warehouse. The collection containers are simply pushed into the press on the left-hand side.

Handling the AutoLoadBailer is simple. One Collection trolley is included in the Press and emptied automatically at the touch of a button. Via a Scissor lift table the cardboard is transported from the collection trolley to rotors that convey the material into the baling chamber. With a pressing force of 530 kilonewtons, the material is compacted into directly marketable bales weighing 400 to 450 kilograms.

Disposal at Weisser has become more efficient, safer and more reliable, summarises Tobias Mettmann. Time and walking distances are saved, the doors remain closed, in the area of the Disposal logistics forklift traffic has been reduced. Overall, he assumes that the AutoLoadBailer systems will amortise within up to two years due to the various savings.
