A new addition to Feldmuehle Uetersen GmbH's portfolio is a heat-sealable paper solution: the coated flexible packaging paper with a heat-sealable reverse side can be easily used on existing packaging lines and can be recycled in the waste paper cycle.
Feldmuehle is expanding its diverse range in the Packaging Solutions division with heat-sealable paper. This provides brand owners with a natural, recyclable material that can be used in the same way as plastic for packaging production, filling and sealing. With its bright white, glossy or matt surface, it is suitable both for High-quality printed packagingn as well as for Simple inner bag solutions.
Recyclable, heat-sealable paper
„For applications that do not require a barrier function from the material, our product offers an environmentally friendly alternative that consists mainly of cellulose instead of plastic,“ explains Stefan Eitze, Technical Marketing Manager at Feldmuehle. The material obtains its sealing functionality during the paper manufacturing process through a water-based dispersion coating. It is Resolvable in the waste paper recycling process, so that the raw materials can be reused.
Proven in practice
With the new material, the Dutch packaging service provider NOMI Co-Packing stand-up pouches are produced and filled. When used on existing forming, filling and sealing machines, the product was convincing: „The new material is ideal for our packaging line for stand-up pouches,“ says René Beijsens, Technical Manager at NOMI Co-Packing, the packaging partner for renowned brand manufacturers. „It was also possible to change the material from film to the new heat-sealable paper without any additional changes to the machine settings.“
Convenience advantage when opening
The material also offers the advantage that the packaging can be opened in a consumer-friendly way by simply tearing it open in a controlled manner. This means that there is no need for the perforations and notches that are required to open film packaging.
